Blog #1: Residential life with Summer Scholars

On the first day coming into the residence hall I honestly did not know what to expect. I was curious on whether I would get along with my suit mate or not, but at the same time I was kind of scared. Turns out that I was pared up with some pretty cool kids. The first day or two of course being the shy type that I am I was kinda awkward but as the day went on more and more people started talking to me witch made it a lot easier for me to fraternize with the others. The more i went into the program everybody became very friendly and talkative and very easy to get along with everybody.
During this week we were also faced with the challenge of joggling our outside commitments, our course work, and also our residence life activities. At first this wasn't such a big conflict but as we got more work from our class the questions "will i get it done? and if so will i get it done on time?" would come up more. This at a point got difficult because you wanted to sit and hang out with your newly made friends and just relax and enjoy the last couple of days that you would be living together, but at the time you really couldn't because we either had to study , do homework, or had an activity planned with our RTA's.
The interaction with our RTA's was also a good experience. I liked it because they were easy to get along with. They were always there to answer our questions to the best of their ability and knowledge. They were able to mentor us to talk to us about the actual college life. Their past classes, and what techniques they used with test taking and getting their work done, also with like how they were able to manage school work with work, family, and friends.
